Halfpenny Green Air Scout Group

ANNIVERSARY BADGE 1391957658_0

Halfpenny Green Air Scout Group was Founded in 1964 and was originally only a Scout Troup. HGAS is also the only Air Scout Group in the whole of the Midlands of which we are very proud of. Back in 2011 Karl Owen took the Helm of the Group Leader and initiated the Start of the two younger sections. With the start of the Beavers and Cubs, Halfpenny Green was now officially a Group. in 2011 the Group stood at 18 members and now officially in 2014 the Group has 82 members and still rising! In 2013 Halfpenny Green received its first ever full RAF inspection where the whole Group (not just Scouts) were inspected for their Aviation and Air involvement to see if we could be awarded full RAF Recognition. this was very successful and we are awarded this in November 2013. This is a Huge milestone for the Group, and Air Scouting in general as no other Group hold this full recognition to date. We were in attendance in the Battle of Britain Parade in Stourbridge for the first time in 2013 and this really put HGAS on the map with may questions raised with who we were and what we did. We attended this parade with the Air Cadets and the Air Explorer Unit in Stourbridge and it was great to see us all together for the first time.   In October 2013 a competition was initiated to design an anniversary badge for the Group to celebrate and the entries were independently judged by Mr Roger Tandy, a long serving, founder member of Halfpenny Green. there were many entries and he finally dwindled  down to one with Miss Jess Burns being the winner by using the new current Scouting emblems along with a little ‘flair’ of her own. This Badge is now being
